Emily and Roz first met when Roz helped with her family dog, Poppy’s, behaviour. Roz has a fond memory of the time they all did a tracking (scent) session together and Emily and her sister had to run and hide in a hedge….not from Roz! For Poppy the dog to find!

Two years later, Emily then came on board as a dog walker for Roz and shadowed the puppy classes to learn more whilst studying for her degree. Eventually she was snapped up by The Dogs Trust. Roz was thrilled when Emily reached out during Covid and immediatly offered her the opportunity to work as a puppy class head coach and 1-2-1 trainer. Roz spotted Emily’s full potential and pushed her to behaviourist level, by which point Emily had passed her degree.
After being ment0red by Roz for two years, Emily passed her Clinical Animal Behaviourist (CAB) exam first time, becoming a full CAB member of the APBC.

Dogs Trust Dog School Bristol volunteer

Dec 2018- Dec 2019
Senior coach for Dogs Trust Dog School Devon (puppy, adolescent and adult classes and 121’s)
During this time Emily attended the 2 day Dogs Trust conference 2019 and received extensive training from the Dogs Trust via Rachel Kitson.
“I have always been passionate about working with animals and from a young age I have surrounded myself with lots of species volunteering at Noahs Ark Zoo Farm and the Cornish Seal Sanctuary. My focus on dogs was ignited by my family’s first pet- an 11 year old deaf spaniel we adopted from Bristol Dogs home. I was determined that my old dog would learn new tricks so I spent lots of time learning about positive reinforcement training. We later adopted Poppy as a puppy, now a 7 year old staffy x collie x Lab. She helped me learn all the joys and difficulties of raising a puppy and I knew this was something I wanted to help other people with. I love seeing the progress during puppy training and watch the bond develop between the owners and dogs. My experience in working with adolescent and adult dogs grew during my work with Dogs Trust, and I continue to keep my knowledge on dog behaviour, body language and training up to date”.

Business owner of Emily Coombe- Positive Dog Training

“Emily was fab! We’ve been struggling with a few things for weeks, and however much online research we did, we couldn’t seem to solve the problem. Emily’s patience and consistency with the training was incredible and set us a great example to learn from. She gave us some really simple clever tricks and new ways of training Bailey our cockerpoo, which really helped. It was wonderful to see such an improvement in just a 1-hour training session. Thank you so much!” Amanda Callans
