The Mutty Professor was recommended to me by my neighbour. My terrier puppy was showing very early behavioural issues that I needed to tackle. Emily came to the house, took her time listening to me and assessing the situation. She set up six sessions to tackle the issues I was having. Emily‘s patience and positive training for both me and the dog were fantastic. I cannot recommend enough.
Intensive dog behaviour programme
Focused behaviour support for faster results, delivered in Bristol or online.

Expert help, delivered intensively
Our intensive programme is designed for those who want to make faster progress or who live further afield. It offers the same expert service as our standard behaviourist support, but delivered over a shorter period of time with more frequent sessions. For those who want an expert hand to kick-start things, we are also able to do the training for you (providing your dog is comfortable enough for us to do so).
Our intensive dog behaviour packages
Assessment (2 hours) : online or in person
We begin with an assessment to identify underlying issues and agree on a tailored plan. This allows us to put in place “layer one” changes straight away before actioning the remainder of the practical sessions.
Bristol based assessments are in person and will likely include practical training. For those who live outside of Bristol, assessments are online.
5-10 x follow up sessions (approx 1 hour each, max 1.5 hours each)
Your behaviourist will deliver focused, hands-on training over a series of intensive sessions. These can be paced out to suit your specific needs, whether that’s five days in a row, 1-2 times a week or twice a month.
These may include work with helper dogs where appropriate to support safe, realistic practice.
Package price: £690-£1700
*Depending on which behaviourist you see and whether you are booking a 6 or 11 session package.
Vet referral
By law, only a veterinarian can rule out pain as a cause of behaviour problems. For this reason, all behaviour cases must come via veterinary referral. We work closely with vets across Bristol and beyond, and most are happy to refer to us.
Please ask your vet to complete our referral form and return it with your dog’s medical history.
You’ll also be asked to complete a case history form later in the process:

Frequently asked questions
I'm not sure if I can commit to multiple sessions in one a week, what are my options?
If you are in Bristol, you can choose to space your sessions out as and when suits your schedule. We generally find a gap of three weeks maximum between sessions is best for keeping up momentum. If you are outside of Bristol, then you are welcome to travel down multiple times for each session.
My dog behaves aggressively towards people, will that affect our work together?
We work with lots of dogs who struggle with unfamiliar people as well as having other behaviour problems that need addressing. The focus for such cases is to firstly get them comfortable with us, so we can effectively coach you both.
Can you guarantee the problem behaviour will be resolved at the end of the session?
Sadly not. There are so many factors that influence behaviour in dogs that it would be unprofessional of us and unfair on you that we make promises prior to assessment.
During the assessment and practical sessions, we will get an idea on your dog’s prognosis and the benefit of intensive behaviour training is that we get to refine things much more quickly than sessions spread out over months. My dog has / I have a health condition that makes frequent practical training challenging, what can we do?
We take all of these factors into consideration as part of the assessment and we can tailor your training plan to suit your specific needs, being mindful of not causing either you or your dog physical or emotional stress through over extertion.
