Our dog training class packages
To help attendees get the most out of classes, completion of a private 1-2-1 lesson is a pre-requisite for our outdoor classes. Our classes are held in small groups of 4-5 dogs, allowing for plenty of individual coaching. The class content is structured so that everyone in attendance gets to work towards their individual training goals and learn something new. Held in a private field, dogs have plenty of space for training whilst learning to respond to their owners around other dogs and people.
What we can train
We can improve your dog's focus and responsiveness around distractions, proof and build upon their recall and on-lead walking skills, increase their self-control using fun games, teach search and retrieve, breed-specific behaviours and lots, lots more.
What you get
One hour tuition in a small group of 4-5 dogs in a private location and supporting handouts with video tutorials where relevant.
Where we can train
In one of our private fields in South and North Bristol.
Frequently asked questions
Why do I have to do a 1-2-1 session first?
The class environment can be a challenging environment for dogs to learn in and everyone attending will have different levels of training experience. Completing a 1-2-1 session allows us to support you in building skills that will promote an enjoyable class experience, allowing you and your dog to progress more in a group setting.
My dog barks at other dogs, are they allowed to attend?
Our private fields have plenty of space and we frequently have over-reactive dogs, or some with a history of aggression, attend without issue. However, if your dog struggles with dogs at distances greater than 20 metres, then behaviour modification would be a sensible first step to take.
Do group classes suit dogs with problem behaviours?
That depends on what the problem behaviour is! Classes can be something to progress towards following a behaviour modification assessment and program, but they may be too generic and training focused to resolve more complex behaviour problems. In some instances, the class environment can be overwhelming for dogs with behaviour problems, which is why we recommend working with us on a 1-2-1 basis first.
Are lots of treats involved?
Generally, yes. Training using food is efficient and effective, helping your dog enjoy the training experience. We also use toys and praise as rewards, but these need to be paired up or alternated with food to maintain a dog’s interest and aid regulating their arousal. If your dog is not food motivated, we can address this on a private lesson ahead of classes.
